Attended the ballet association's last general assembly for 2009 today, which also doubled up as the group's christmas party. Although going to these functions entail effort and to a certain degree, work, it's always good to touch base with dance colleagues.
It wasn't a dress up event and thankfully, we were given nary a dress code. I woke up this morning feeling like I wanted to do a school girl look, so:
a sheer, light grey, cotton spaghetti blouse from Zara (I almost forgot about this! Got it last March, I think. I guess I was "aging" it along with other items. You'll see a small close up of the lace detail in the center of the bodice later.);
wide legged denims from Topshop used as boyfriend jeans (I sooo love the relaxed fit of these denims. I can practically do anything in them, including grand jetés - balletic split jumps in the air).;
studded leather belt from Salsa (I always get items from their men's section. They're just trés interessant more than their items for women.);
my band jacket form in black and grey wool checks from Zara (They fit sooo well!);
charcoal grey platform heels from Nine West (I have the exact same ones in chestnut brown which I talked about in: http://ninaballerinaclosetobsession.blogspot.com/2009/12/fashion-foible.html. These are super comfy. I was in them the whole day and experienced no discomfort whatsoever! Miracle heels!);
white cotton knee high socks from Osh Kosh Kids (Wish you could see the sweet, heart design forming a line from both sides of the socks!);
a black logo bag from Tom Ford's reign at the Gucci house (I got this many years back. I was such a fan of Tom Ford's design concepts for Gucci. Notice that the stud details are soooo today. The gold hardware is unique as well as solid. I preferred very small to medium sized bags before. I don't get into trends easily unless they have staying power. When oversized bags came into the scene, I sort of did a watch-and-see stance with it, observing whether the wave was going anywhere. Since they're now part of the landscape and done in such fab versions nowadays, I've adopted them into my closet. This specific bag was from my pre-tote sized bag period. Got miniature loads sitting and waiting for me to pick them up. Some can only hold my credit cards for a night in the town?! Oh, when oh when are we going out together again?!);
and my pièce de résistance: an agate and black jade cocktail ring (Got this beauty yesterday from my sister-in-law, who sells jewelry. I couldn't take my eyes off it so the adorable hubby prompty paid for it! I shall try to get a better picture of it. It is frankly more lovely in person! Cocktail rings are just so fun!).
I think the school girl look will be here to stay forever (judging from the proliferation of Gossip Girl fashion type of TV shows) and with justification: it's too cute to give up for good! Seriously! Are you for the school girl look too?
