Brought my students to the Meralco Theater last Saturday for their designated blocking slot. (My school, École de Ballet Manille, was scheduled to perform for the Association of Ballet Academies Philippines' Danseries XIV, a festival of dance featuring the association's member performing arts institutions. This is sort of an annual big deal opportunity to be seen for school artistic directors and teachers.)
As you can see, the pictures came out waaaaaay too blurry. Grr! Sooooo, I had to hold another point-and-shoot when I got home with my faithful creative director, Roey, calling all the shots:
Hmm. Still a little blurred but I promise, it gets better. (A new digicam is in my christmas wish list too!)
Wearing a leather jacket from Zara (I was soooo stoked when I got this. It was on sale at the children's section so the price was much, much lower than those at the ladies' wear section! In case you're wondering why I'm using a leather jacket in oven hot Manila ... It was 10C at the Meralco Theater! Brrr! Their centralized airconditioning can freeze a panna cota in 10 minutes flat, I think. You can imagine what that was doing to our butts!);
a Tee from Topshop worn as a minidress;
aquamarine colored tights from Zokki (I think this hosiery label is Korea's best kept secret! They are sturdily made and come in a variety of colors ... even the crazy colors which you don't normally see around.);
my Gucci ankle length boots (You've seen them before. After not using them for like 12 years, I've strangely been out with them at full force for the past two weeks! We all do that, right?);
and last but certainly not the least, my trusty alligator skin bag from Fino.
Just realized that I only use 15 to 20% of the wardrobe options in my closet. Sometimes, I love certain things so much that I practically live in them; then when the mood shifts, I discard or retire them to anonymity and overuse (or abuse?) other items, until I see them again in a whole different light. This is now the case with those Gucci ankle boots and the Fino bag. They're like my staples du jour. I wonder how long the love affair is going to last?!
I guess that's why I only decide what to wear the very next minute I wake up in the morning. The mood dictates it. T'es malade, Nina?" Are you the same or I'm the only crazy woman in the universe doing this absurd thing?!

Hola, retro-a-porter!
ReplyDeleteYey! I can finally read your blog from top to bottom. I'm sooooo excited!
We have the same Zara leather jacket?! I'm so flattered. Truly, birds of the same feather, flock together!
Don't let me fool you though, I'm not a computer techie either. It took me almost a whole day, for example, to figure out how to correctly install that counter thingie into my blogsite. My head hurt from thinking!
Your kind comments make me smile from ear to ear. I really needed encouragement today.
Muchas, muchas gracias, my new and dear friend!

ReplyDelete@ MAISONCHAPLIN.BLOGSPOT.COM
you look so cute! i love that leather jacket-- I agree I wear a lot of the same pieces ofver and over again. sometimes i feel "bad" for the clothes i neglect and make a point of incorporating them into an outfit!
ReplyDeleteHi Couture Carrie!
ReplyDeleteI love that jacket as well! Too bad that I can't wear it as much because of the sweaty weather of Manila. I bring it out when I'm going to a particularly chilly place like the theater or .... would you believe, the movies?! And of course, it's my constant companion when I travel. Airports are pretty arctic, in my opinion.
Come visit again soon?!

Hello la petite fashionista!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness, someone who repeats clothes over and over, just like me! Clothes are just like children, they need care and attention. They're lonely and moody when we don't mind them. Aren't we funny?

So many things in my closet sit untouched - it's truly tragic. I think I need to go on a shopping spree in my very own closet!! :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, ha, Erika! I do that sometimes too! It's fun!
